...because of God's mercy they saved us through the washing in which the Holy Spirit gives us new birth and renewal. God poured a generous amount of the Spirit on us through Jesus Christ... As a result, God in their kindness has given us approval and we have become heirs who have the confidence that we have everlasting life.
I've entered the stage of life where older family members are either passing away or transitioning to needing increasing family support.
It's times like these when I misquote CS Lewis (if it wasn't him, then I have no clue where I heard it, but the internet says Lewis never wrote it!): "we often think of ourselves as our body and that we have a soul floating inside there, somewhere. The reality is that you have a body. You are a soul."
In this way, I grieve the many physical stages that are dawning, and those yet to come in my family -- but I have hope that our souls, by the Grace of God, will live on together one day.
This season is a season of joy for so many, but can be a season of grief for others.
Who in your life could use some community during this season? How might you offer that in some small way?
