12.19.23 - Luke 1: 28-29, 38
How might you need to allow other people into the vulnerability of what you don’t know and where you need help in order to hear your call?
Luke 1: 28-29, 38
And he came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be... Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.”
In this passage, Mary doesn’t at first see herself in Gabriel’s words, she doesn’t recognize her call. She needs an outside voice to call her.
I feel the pressure to come up with my “purpose” on my own, out of solitude, prayer, and creativity, or something. I read the stories of people who have created change, but these retellings forget all of the community that surrounded them, held them, and spoke into their lives.
Our ministries in life and at Juniper Formation are co-created and founded in community and relationship. We don’t create a call on our own, in isolation.
I have no way to say this that doesn’t sound very corny, but I have people in my life who engage in prophetic dreaming and imagining with me, and it has changed my life. If you are feeling stuck, what might it be like to allow other people to reflect and create a dream with you?
How might you need to allow other people into the vulnerability of what you don’t know and where you need help in order to hear your call?
