12.18.23 - Isaiah 52:7
How were you able to bring the news of God’s peace to your community today? Are you keeping your eyes open to goodness around you?
How welcome upon the mountains are the feet of one who brings good news—who announces peace…and proclaims deliverance.
I have a reputation amongst my friends for being a “Debbie Downer” type. My brain and heart have a penchant for finding the despair, trouble, and sorrow.
Granted, our world is not lacking in those things, so they’re easy to find. And so it’s a needed spiritual practice in my life to look for what’s good, to look for where the Spirit is moving, to look for the declarations of peace.
Aren’t the people who are readily able to see the good such a gift?
Isaiah reminds us that those with the eyes to see where God is bringing deliverance and to proclaim it are a welcome balm in community.
Not the rose-colored glasses kind of person, but that person who has known the troubles of this world and continues to announce and work for peace. The ones who keep their hearts tender and open.
How were you able to bring the news of God’s peace to your community today? Are you keeping your eyes open to goodness around you?
