12.11.23 - Mark 1:45c
How are you choosing rest this holiday season? Or how are you creating space for those in your life who need rest to find it?
and Jesus stayed in lonely places.
It’s the time of year when there is so much pressure to be joyous and jolly, even when our spirits might be tender, grieving, and exhausted.
I know that my heart and body are feeling tired and overwhelmed these days. I have limited capacity for social events and merriment. And so much in the world feels troubling and heavy.
I find solace in the phrase in today’s text that says that Jesus stayed in lonely places.
His ministry was growing and things were getting to the point where he couldn’t go anywhere without having speaking requests and people swarming him for attention and healing.
And so he intentionally sought out the lonely places. I can imagine that he needed space to rest, recharge, and be renewed.
I choose to stay in lonely places this season too. Maybe you can find the courage to want to as well.
How are you choosing rest this holiday season? Or how are you creating space for those in your life who need rest to find it?
