1.18.24 - Hebrews 2:1-4
Go back to the source - where do you experience God communicating with you about how to bring wellness into your world, here and now?
Therefore we must pay greater attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message declared through angels proved valid, and every transgression or disobedience received a just penalty, how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? It was declared at first through God, and it was confirmed for us by those who heard them, while God added their testimony by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, distributed according to their will.
Listening is a learned skill.
It turns out hearing is not the same as listening. You can hear, without listening. Listening includes seeking understanding.
Focus is also a skill. We drift so easily.
Here, the writer to the Hebrews ask to listen to and focus on what we’ve been taught about God, God’s character and action, and how we can participate.
After all, what makes us think we can escape and ignore so great a movement as God’s salvation? It takes more energy in our physical neurobiology to resist cooperation than to participate in God’s salvation.
Place yourself in neutral discernment as much as possible. Do not judge if this is good or bad, but take a moment to observe your faith practice.
Where have you been spinning your wheels? How can you gain traction by cooperating with God right here, right now?
