11.8.23 - I Corinthians 12: 7
What ideas about faith do you need to give up in order to be faithful to the common good?
To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
Distinct gifts for the common benefit.
Diversity for mutual growth, formation, and development.
I often tell clients I work with that the most complex story gives us the most complete understanding. The more perspectives we can gather, the better the end result.
Your distinct contribution to the world is meant to build the capacities of others to better the world. Instead of individual achievement, the common good of humanity is the real goal.
It's the sole reason we built this app, populated it with diverse authors and perspectives, and put it out into the world.
It's for you to challenge yourself to recognize your gifts and value to the world and use that knowledge to build a better community.
It's to combat the personalized spiritualities that populate our cultural landscape and remind us that this world is not a personal playground or individual soul-building space.
You matter, certainly. But, you matter most in the context of community. And, your faith is not fire insurance, rather your faithfulness matters most in the context of how we work together for the common good.
What ideas about faith do you need to give up in order to be faithful to the common good?
