How might you notice yourself longing for a different world today? What kindom building work do you want undertake?
The ruler will answer them, ‘The truth is, every time you did this for the least of my sisters or brothers, you did it for me on.
The beginning of Advent arrives with many of us crying out or muttering at the news, “God, what is this fresh hell? Come save us already!”
What is helpful to know in these moments is that God often reminds us, “yes, I’m here, I’m saving the world through you.”
Jesus is telling us that every act of world building, every act of justice, every act of peacemaking we undertake is God’s kindom co-created on this earth.
As Alice Walker reminds us, we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
My hope this season is that we feel the longing for salvation, and take up the work that will shape the world into what we know it could be.
Through acts of giving and receiving care, and collective acts of peacemaking and justice, I believe we’ll see once again that God is truly with us.
