11.24.23 - Matthew 6: 25, 27
What are you living for? Name one worry you can replace today with energy focused on change.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?... And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to your span of life?
Getting called out of our worry-making loops can be aggravating.
There is a lot of energy that goes into worrying, and it can be rewarding on some psychological level.
Ceasing from worrying may be a habit change that feels impossible. But this 2000 year old truth is still the truth: worrying cannot and will never add a single hour to our lives.
What kind of energy could we possibly replace worry with?
Curiosity?
Empathy?
Determination?
Activation?
Thomas Merton put it this way: “Ask me not where I live or what I like to eat… ask me what I am living for and what I think is keeping me from living fully for that.”
Pay attention to your worry from today. What 1% change can you offer yourself tomorrow to switch the energy from worried to empowered?
