11.2.23 - Matthew 25:37
What are some intentional ways that compassion can become central to the rhythm of your life? Where do you want to begin today?
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food or thirsty and gave you something to drink?’
The righteous in the parable are a bit perplexed by Jesus’s figure of speech, they don’t recall feeding him.
Though I wonder if they do not consciously recall showing compassion to the least of these?
What if compassion was not an accessory but rather the foundation upon which their lives were lived?
Throughout his life and ministry, Jesus demonstrated that compassion and grace were a guiding rhythm of life that shaped how he saw and engaged others; in a sense, compassion was reckless, indiscriminate, flowing from the heart no matter the situation.
What are some intentional ways that compassion can become central to the rhythm of your life? Where do you want to begin today?
