I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my words. Wondrously show your steadfast love, O savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand. Guard me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, from the wicked who despoil me, my deadly enemies who surround me.
This is what I like to call a “pay attention to me!” psalm.
It’s a valid prayer when we’re tempted to believe God has ignored or forgotten us.
Perhaps it is we who have lost ear-shot and eye-sight of God? It can feel, especially when the deck feels stacked against us, that we are being persecuted. But what if those challenges are meant to channel our energy right back to source, right back to love?
The Psalmist runs for shelter in God, pleading to be seen, witnessed and called beloved, aching to be heard and understood and affirmed. Let us be so bold.
Can you form your own sentence or two: asking to be seen, called beloved and understood?

Sometimes, I just want to be understood. I also need to be understanding and see others as well.
