11.10.23 - Proverbs 8: 12-13
How might you approach whatever you hear with wisdom rather than arrogance? What kind of practice do you want to start today so that wisdom is baked into your everyday life?
I, wisdom, live with prudence, and I attain knowledge and discretion. The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
Words create worlds.
What we say and how we say it matters.
So much of our world depends on the words of others. And, so much of what is said is arrogant garbage.
Yet, we consume it like it's the wisdom we've been waiting for. Headlines are created for clicks; "leaders" vie for the next soundbite; and, we eat it up. We say we want something different, yet we vote the same people into office and shrug when they spout harmful messages.
It's gotten to where, when I hear a leader proclaim "Christian" values I assume they're lying. I assume their doing it to pander. I roll my eyes, remembering when Jesus endorsed particular political leaders and eyed a run for office himself.
What will it take for us to actually seek, reward, and uphold wisdom? What will it take for us to respect her?
As we enter another political cycle, how might you approach whatever you hear with wisdom rather than arrogance? What kind of practice do you want to start today so that wisdom is baked into your everyday life?
