Jesus said to them, "Those who belong to this age marry and are given in marriage; but those who are considered worthy of a place in that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. Indeed they cannot die anymore, because they are like angels and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.
Ah, here we are again: circling back around to big questions about complicated matters: timing, life and death, and relationships on earth vs. relationships in the after-life.
Jesus blows apart the earthly categories we’re tempted to hold onto: marriage, spouses, siblings and whom is responsible to whom. Luke reframes the question and says - it’s about your relationship to God more so than your relationships in earthly marriage.
It’s okay to wonder and ask questions about how we relate to God and each other, but more so - let’s focus our energy to being alive and relating to God in the present and in the here-to-come.
What relationship currently causes you the most unsettled energy?
How can you tread lightly and reframe your ability to relate to God, even with this disturbing relationship?
We need community to build habits and rituals that stick. Feel free to use the comment section as a place to name what you're taking from a frame into your day.
My relationships with systems are causing me fits at this moment. I'm not quite sure how to reframe this because everyone feels their doing God's work and nothing gets done of consequence. Sitting with it, meeting with people, understanding and advocacy come next I feel.
