1.10.24 - 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
What life-giving activities restore your body, mind, emotions and spirit? How might you engage one of those today in preparation to become the person God and others need today?
May our and our Abba console your hearts and strengthen them for every good work and word.
The other day I shared with someone that I’m a minister and I’m finishing up my training to be a mental health counselor. Their immediate response was “All of that sounds emotionally draining.”
My first response was laughter. I appreciated their candor.
My second response was that I have a wonderful community of colleagues, family and friends, as well as my own therapist that help me to navigate the heaviness. And I also engage in refreshing activities like reading fiction, taking naps, and moving my body.
Some might call these things self care and community care. And, as I reflect on this scripture, I also understand them to be instruments God uses to console my heart and strengthen me as I do the work to which I’ve been called.
Especially as we transition out of the holiday season and begin a new year, may we all tap into the things that channel the divine strength needed to do what we’ve been called to do.
What life-giving activities restore your body, mind, emotions and spirit? How might you engage one of those today in preparation to become the person God and others need today?
