10.10.23 - Matthew 18:12a
We see you. We imagine with you. We hope with you. We dream with you. Your thoughts, words, and actions matter. What will you do with them today?
What do you think?
Very few of our religious spaces pay attention to the questions.
Something this simple, this empowering, and we tend to hide it behind our dogma and routines.
Jesus isn't asking the learned people of the day. His question is a response to a bunch of disciples jockeying for positions of prominence.
They want to know who matters most, who comes first, who has the power. Jesus points to a child and goes on to teach with parables.
But, this question, 'what do you think?' is powerful for people who've had very little power.
It means their thoughts and words matter. It means their actions have meaning. It means they matter. Today, it means that you matter. What you think, value, express, and do, they all matter.
And, the reward isn't power or position, it's knowing that you're seen and heard and valued.
So, what do you think? What do you imagine? What is within your grasp to challenge, change, and build today?
